Yet More De-Blood Angeled Terminators + Hybrids

Finally finished another pair of Terminators, so now I only have three left from the Space Hulk box.

Trooper Veteran Vinko "Vulture" Bodan. Her armour is partly black due to being a member of the Field Police.

Here you can see the Field Police badge on the back of the power fist. Field Police come under the control of the Chaplainry, and Chaplains are drawn from their ranks. They enforce discipline off duty, and in the field function as shock troops to secure landing zones and co-ordinate transports.

Trooper Veteran Thu "T.V." Vukasan. Converted from the thunder hammer Sergeant from the box, with a helmet from the normal terminator kit. I also moved his arm into a more action-packed striking pose. The script on his chest (ferox) means 'defiant'.

Detail of his shield. Arcus is latin for rainbow. The Crux is covering where a large blood drop used to be.

The whole gang all painted up, with a few extras.

Still waiting to be painted. You can see here that I have added helmets to the two Librarians and the power sword Sergeant (who is going to be a Captain).

I also recieved my Genestealer hybrids the other day, and they need painting up. It will be a bit of a shame as the Magus and the hybrid on his left are very nicely done. But the colour scheme doesn't match my genestealers, and their bases are not very inside a spaceship-y. The hybrids of course need arms...

Fortunately my brother used to collect guard, so we have huge quantaties of RT era guard arm sprues and weapons. Not pictured is the tons of 2nd ed pistol sprue and close combat sprue weapons. The Brood Brothers were normally shown with the Ork/Chaos weapons, but I don't have those and there work just as well. Pictures to come!

De-Blood Angel'd Space Hulk Terminators pt 3

Or part 4. Or whatever, look at the pics ;)

1st Lieutenant Aubin "Outlaw" Hawkins:

Company Sgt Gunnvarr "Gunner" Yadiz:

(I need to repaint the genestealer as it doesn't match how I ended up doing them)

Trooper Vet Jürgen "Curly" Ratna (1st Co Standard Bearer):

Trooper Vet Coeus "Eggs" Hellad:

Trooper Ver Teng "Target" Takis:

Technical Troopers Allison "Stone Cold" McKenzie and Ayden "High Voltage" Cass:

Chaplain Ilsa "Sky Pilot" DeSilva:

(I got rid of the skull head as I didn't like it)

Shoulder detail:
(the shoulder was badly cast and missing the Crux Terminatus)

The Marines are all undercoated black, basecoated Regal Blue, inked black, highlighted Space Wolf Grey. The stripe colours are Skull White, Golden Yellow, Blazing Orange, Red Gore, Goblin Green and occasionally Regal Blue and Hormagaunt Purple.
In addition to the helmet stripes the marines have the stripes on the back of their power fists. Additionaly the Lt and Sgt have personalised heraldry on thier shoulder guards (the Lt on his power fist also).

I've still got 16 more Terminators to paint...

More de-Blood Angeled Hulk terminators

First up are the three dudes I've finished:

1st Lieutenant Aubin "Outlaw" Hawkins, Company Sgt Gunnvar "Gunner" Vadiz and Trooper Veteran Teng "Target" Takis (click for larger).

I finished Takis tonight (his base still needs blacking), and added helmet stripes to the other two. I had been unable to think of a way to represent the stripes on a terminator helmet, but it needed doing as without they tended to look like Ultramarines a bit too much.
I was inspired by the helmet stripes on the terminators in Siege of Vraks III, and altered to suit.

Trooper Veteran Jurgen "Curly" Ratna, Trooper Veteran Coeus "Eggs" Hellad.

These guys have had their base coulours layed down, giving a good idea of how they look de-Blood Angeled. Hellad has a blood drop icon on his belt, and Ratna has one on his right shoulder, but I'll be using them to represent the Medallion Crimson.

Why worry about medals and such?

As part of the Cradle of Despair campaign I've named 30 individual troopers and detailed their squad assignment - for many of them I've given them detailed bios like the one above. Their serial numbers are all sequential to their reruitment dates, and the numbers of purity seals match those on the minis (this is part of the reason it's taking so long to do).

A couple of Space Hulk pics

Company Sergeant Yadiz

I finished painting the terrrain pieces necessary to add some "illustrations" to the Cradle of Despair campaign book.

1st Lieutenant Hawkins

I may need to paint more than just these two guys though ;)

The painting of the corridors (from Old Crow, originally by Ainsty, their Tech Tunnel line) was dead simple - spray skull white, badab black wash, drybrush white and call it a day! Not quite true as details such as computer monitors and such still need to be done, but I got a rather sizable chunk done very quickly.

I won't be doing a full tileset though - I own over four complete Hulk sets already!

More de-Blood Angeled Space Hulk Terminators

All the pics can be clicked for larger versions.

First up are Loremaster Valerio "Beast" Thurston and Captain Hillard "Chief" Schliemann.

These guys were pretty easy - chop off the BA symbols and remove the heads with a scriber. Attach spare Terminator head and done. The Librarian's head needed a bit more trimming, taking off his little ear knobs and the forehead lamp to get it to fit in.
Rather annoyingly though, the Captain seemed to be cast poorly, and bits kept shattering off. While trimming off his pimp chalice atop his suit a big chunk of the torso suddenly split away. Also his cape kept snapping, unlike the other minis from the set or any other GW plastics. Very odd.

Next up are Chaplain Ilsa "Sky Pilot" DeSilva and Loremaster Conrad "Doc Morbid" Neemias.

The Chaplain mini came with a mis-cast left shoulder, the Crux almost totally gone. I decided to file it down flat and will paint on a skull icon in its place. The head swap came about as I somewhat dislike the original's positioning - it's looking too far down for my liking. Similarly the belt feed always looked silly to me.
These were fixed by removing the head, attaching a plastic one, and cutting the arch piece from a spare torso (otherwise the head stuck out too far and looked very odd). The ammo clip is from the plastic box, flipped upside down and backwards, as for some reason the out of syncedness of the two clips is reversed on the Chaplains gun!

The Librarian was a matter or patient use of a scrip to remove the head, then a slow process of whittling down the helmet to fit. The helmet sticks out more than a normal marine's, but it has to to be able to look the way he's firing.

Trooper Veteran Vinko "Vulture" Bodan and Trooper Veteran Coeus "Eggs" Hallard.

The Heavy Flamer was pretty basic, the only tricky part was removing and re-fitting the shoulder shield. I also cut the left torso scroll shorter to open up the view of the waist more - I find wihtout it the figure looks 'fat'.

The Assualt Cannon was cut off at the elbow and re-positioned - I never liked the weird "firing across himself" of the original. Now he's doing a dramatic lunge sort of thing.

The two guys from my earlier post (now in colour!), with a C.A.T. I build some time ago. The C.A.T. is made from a 1/300th T-82 hull, the targeting array off of a Hunter Killer Missile, some random 1/35th bits, a strut from a 1/72nd B-52 kit, and some IG binoculars.

Much better than the Gazebo Skull on wheels GW made if I do say so myself.

A clearer picture of Company Sergeant Gunnvarr "Gunner" Yadiz. I have a slight problem that my guys are mostly blue... and Genestealers are mostly blue... hrm... maybe I'll go black carapace with purple squisy bits.
